Daniel Briere sent a cross-ice pass from the top right circle to Alexei Emelin in the low left circle. He threaded a pass across the crease to Max Pacioretty at the right edge of the blue paint and he followed through with a wrist shot into an open net for his 34th goal. He scored for the third consecutive game and for the fourth time in his last five games.
The Canadiens extended their lead to 3-0 with six minutes to go in the second period. Vanek connected a pass to David Desharnais in the slot and he moved the puck to Pacioretty at the left of the crease. He then redirected the pass for his second goal of the game and 35th goal this season.
The shutout was broken by Florida(27-40-8) at 16:09. Sean Bergenheim sent a pass from the low slot to Brad Boyes in the low right circle and he fired a shot by Carey Price for his 19th goal.

Miami Ratings February 2014
Things remained the same as 104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM was the highest rated sports format radio station in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale region for the sixth consecutive month. It was their biggest margin of victory since June 2012. The other two main competitors in the market loss more ground than expected during the month of February.
104.3 The Ticket went down slightly from a 1.5 to a 1.4 in February. The Miami Heat game broadcasts kept the station ahead of the pack as they stand alone as the top team in the region. Daytime programming remained on point with Dan Le Batard and Stugotz in afternoons, Jonathan Zaslow in mornings and Eric Reed in early afternoons.
Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM fell from a 1.0 to a 0.7 in the month of February. It was a dismal showing by The Sports Brothers in afternoon drive as their interim program could not gain any traction. In addition, WQAM had a limited amount of game broadcasts with the Florida Panthers off for three weeks. The University of Miami Hurricanes basketball team was unable to perform up to the high standards they had from last year.
940 The Sports Animal WINZ-AM dropped for the second straight month, but this time from a 0.3 to a 0.2. The station hit a low point due the adjustments in their schedule during February. No permanent host was named to replace Jesse Agler on the Finsiders Show during afternoon drive as they plugged in John Congemi and Troy Stradford. They carried the Winter Olympics for several weeks to an audience that really had no interest. The loss of Steve Goldstein for three weeks from the morning show alongside Jeff DeForrest did not help either.

Victor Oquendo Shifts To News
WPLG-TV Channel 10 sportscaster Victor Oquendo has been promoted to a news anchor position at the station. He will work on the 4:30pm and 5:30pm newscasts. WINK-TV sports director and sports anchor Clayton Ferraro in Fort Myers is expected to replace Oquendo as the weekend sports anchor.
It has been a trend in the Miami television market over the last 20 years to move a sports anchor to a news anchor spot on the broadcast. WTVJ-TV Channel 6 first did it with longtime sportscaster Tony Segreto during the 1990's. It was later done by WPLG for Steve Alvarez and by WFOR-TV Channel 4 when they shifted Khambrel Marshall. During the past ten years, WFOR took Jim Berry from sports to news and returned him back to his prior position while WTVJ promoted Adam Kuperstein from sports to the news desk in December 2011 and he is currently their evening news co-anchor.

Tim Thomas Goes To Dallas
The Florida Panthers made a deal on Wednesday to exchange goalies as they sent Tim Thomas to the Dallas Stars for Dan Ellis. This trade was expected because Florida acquired Roberto Luongo from the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday and it seemed the club has committed to him as their starting goalie for the next couple of seasons.
Thomas signed a one-year contract with the Panthers during their training camp. He had a 16-20-3 record, 2.87 goals-against-average and a .909 save percentage in 40 games this season for the Cats. Thomas had previously played for the Boston Bruins for eight seasons and led the team to a Stanley Cup championship in 2010-11 for the first time in 39 years.
Ellis just finished his second stint with the Dallas Stars as he went 5-6-0 with a .900 save percentage and a 3.04 goals-against-average in 14 games in 2013-14. He has played for several teams during his NHL career which included Nashville, Tampa Bay, Anaheim and Carolina.

LeBron James Scores 61 Points
LeBron James scored a career-high 61 points as the Miami Heat defeated the Charlotte Bobcats 124-107 on Monday night at American Airlines Arena. In the process, James set a Miami Heat franchise record for most points by a player in game. James, who led Miami(43-14) to their eighth consecutive victory, had 24 points by halftime and added another 25 points in the third quarter for 49 points entering the final quarter. The Heat went on a 29-15 run at the start of the second half to get a 20-point cushion 89-69 with 2:40 left in the third quarter. The Bobcats never came closer than 14 points for the rest of the way.
Chris Bosh had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Heat while Toney Douglas added ten points. Al Jefferson got a double-double for Charlotte as he contributed a team-high 38 points with 19 rebounds.

Panthers Acquire Roberto Luongo
Roberto Luongo is once again a Florida Panther as he was acquired from the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday along with minor league prospect Steven Anthony for Jacob Markstrom and Shawn Matthias. Luongo was traded by the Cats with Lukas Krajicek to the Canucks in June 2006 for Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan Allen and Alex Auld.
Luongo played for the Panthers in his previous stint with the team from 2000 until 2006. He has franchise records for the club as a goalie with 108 wins, 26 shutouts, 35 wins in a season and seven shutouts in a season.
He led the Canucks to a Western Conference title in 2010-11. They lost to the Boston Bruins in seven games in the 2011 Stanley Cup Final. Markstrom was seen as their goaltender of the future for the Panthers and had limited time with the club this season as he went 1-6-3 in 12 games with a 3.52 goals-against-average. He appeared in a backup role for the past four seasons.
Matthias was picked up by Florida in a trade with Detroit Red Wings for Todd Bertuzzi in February 2007. He played seven seasons with the Cats as a center. His best season was in 2011-12 when the team made the playoffs for the first time in 12 years as he had a career-high 14 assists and 24 points.
