New Jersey extended their lead to 3-1 with 4:53 to go in the third period. Paul Cotter scored his seventh goal this season on a wrist shot. Nico Hischier and Hamilton both collected assists on the sequence. Ondrej Palat added an empty-net goal with 1:02 left in the third for a 4-1 advantage.
