Josh Friedman Takes Time Off From The Ticket

Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM evening host Josh Friedman will be taking time off from the station as of today. He will be having knee replacement surgery and expects to be back by the beginning of January. The station is expected to use Greg Likens, Barry Jackson and others as fill-in hosts during December.
Friedman, an Indiana University grad, has been with The Ticket since early 2006. He started as a reporter for the station covering the Florida Marlins, Miami Dolphins and Miami Heat. He later hosted a weekend show until March 2014.
After The Ticket lost the radio broadcast rights to the Miami Marlins following the 2013 season, Friedman was named as evening host in April 2014 and picked up Chris Wittyngham as a co-host in July 2014. They were the interim afternoon co-hosts for one month in August 2015 and then returned to the evening shift. Wittyngham left the evening program and joined Ethan Skolnick for the afternoon shift in May 2016. Friedman has co-hosted the evening show with guest co-hosts ever since.
He had a tenure during the 1990s at a sports radio station in Chicago as a reporter, producer and board operator. He moved to Miami in 1998 and became the Florida Marlins reporter for 560 WQAM-AM. His contract was not renewed by that station in the middle of 2003. Friedman worked the next two years as a Miami sports reporter for Metro Networks.
