Former Florida Panthers center Stu Barnes has left the Seattle Kraken organization. He worked as a professional scout since 2020.
Barnes will take over as the head coach of the Tri-City Americans in the Western Hockey League. He is a co-owner of that hockey club. Barnes was a player for them for two seasons prior to his National Hockey League career.
He was acquired by the Florida Panthers in their inaugural NHL campaign during the 1993-94 season. Barnes contributed to the Panthers winning the Eastern Conference title in 1995-96. He was dealt in November 1996 along with Jason Woolley to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Chris Wells in one of the worst trades in franchise history.
