The Miami Marlins handled the Milwaukee Brewers 9-3 on Saturday night at loanDepot park. The Marlins are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their 1997 World Series championship team this weekend.
Current Brewers manager Craig Counsell was part of that club and scored the winning run in Game 7 of the 1997 World Series against the Cleveland Indians. It was the Marlins World Series title and South Florida's first major professional sports championship since the 1973 Miami Dolphins.
Milwaukee(21-13) attacked immediately in the first inning for the second straight contest against the Fish. Willy Adames belted a solo home run to left field on a 0-1 pitch for his ninth homer of the season.
Miami(15-18) picked up back-to-back homers during the fourth inning and eventually moved ahead 4-1 in the frame. Jesus Aguilar blasted a solo homer run to center field on a 1-0 pitch for his fifth homer of the year. It was the second straight game that he hit a round-tripper. Jorge Soler followed and smashed a solo homer to left-center field on a 1-2 pitch for his sixth home run of the 2022 campaign. Four batters later, Brian Anderson cracked a two-run homer to left field on a 2-1 pitch with Jesus Sanchez aboard.
