Vic Canales Media Group has acquired Money Talk Radio 1470 WWNN-AM and two FM translators in Boca Raton from Marco Broadcasting for $1.45 million. The station was recently sold by Beasley Media Group to Marco Broadcasting for $1.25 million in February. The transaction closed in early April and it resulted in Beasley Media Group leaving the South Florida radio market after 26 years.
There is no word from the new owner of their plans for the radio station. Vic Canales Media Group does own two FM translators in Jupiter. It is a possibility that WWNN may change the format or add some sports programming. The station has been branded South Florida's Money Talk Radio Network since December 2019.
WWNN previously had sports programming in the past. Jeff DeForrest was an evening sports host back in 2006 while sportscaster Jim Grieshaber hosted an evening show in the late 2000s. The station did broadcast Friday night high school football games in 2010 and 2011 with longtime 640 WMEN-AM producer Erik Lengyel as a game analyst. Former South Florida Sun-Sentinel writer Michael Mayo and DeForrest have co-hosted a one-hour general talk show at noon since November 2021.
