The Florida Panthers were defeated by the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2 at Amerant Bank Arena on Saturday night. The Panthers played their first game in the last four days.
Florida(20-15-2) got out to a 1-0 advantage at 5:17 of the first period. Eetu Luostarinen backhanded a shot from the top of the crease by Andrei Vasilevskiy for his fourth tally of the year.
Tampa Bay(21-13-3) evened it up 1-1 on a shorthanded goal with 6:55 remaining in the opening frame. Jake Guentzel snapped a shot for his 18th goal of the season.
The Bolts pulled ahead 2-1 with eight seconds left in the first. Pontus Holmberg collected his fifth goal this year ona snap shot.
In the second period, the Lightning expanded their lead to 3-1 at 2:31. Nikita Kucherov chalked up his 14th goal of the campaign on a backhand shot from the crease area past Sergei Bobrovsky.
The Panthers closed it to 3-2 at 7:05 of the second on a power-play goal. Brad Marchand put in a wist shot from the right side of the crease for his 21sr goal this season.
Tampa Bay put the game out of reach with 55.6 seconds to go in the third period. Kucherov sent a backhand shot from the left wing into the empty net for his second tally of the contest and 15th goal in 2025-26.
