The New York Mets finished off a three-game sweep with a walk-off win as they edged the Miami Marlins 3-2 on Sunday at Citi Field. The Fish lost 7-3 on Friday night and to R.A. Dickey on Saturday 4-3.
Ricky Nolasco pitched seven innings for the Marlins and allowed two runs on five hits. Mets starting pitcher Chris Young gave up two runs, one being earned, on five hits in six innings.
The Metropolitans placed two runs in the first inning. After Ruben Tejada lined out to second, Daniel Murphy doubled to deep center field. David Wright then socked his 19th home run of the season on the first pitch to center.
Miami was able to even the game with two runs during the fifth inning. Rob Brantly and Gil Velazquez started with singles to mount a rally. Both advanced one base on a sacrifice bunt by Nolasco. Brantly scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Bryan Petersen. Following a walk by Gorkys Hernandez, he stole second and Velazquez came in on a throwing error by Kelly Shoppach.
New York got the walk-out victory during the ninth inning. The Mets had the bases loaded with two out when Tejada singled into left center off Ryan Webb to score Scott Hairston.
