Three teams will play for the District 15-5A runner-up position at The Furnace on the Cardinal Gibbons campus in Fort Lauderdale on Monday night. The Dillard Panthers, Hallandale Chargers and Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs will participate.
Dillard(4-5, 2-2) and Hallandale(4-4, 2-2) will play in the first one-quarter game and the winner will face Cardinal Gibbons(7-2, 2-2) in the second one-quarter game. Dillard comes in on a three-game losing streak following a 56-0 home loss to the Plantation-American Heritage Patriots. Dre'sean Nelson along with Eddie Roberts IV are expected to gain yards on the ground. Lee Martin will try to connect with Dennis Turner and LaDarion McBride downfield.
Hallandale, currently on a three-game winning streak, has a potent running attack that involves Taj McGowan, Tyler McGowan and Paul Anderson. The Chargers got their best case scenario last week with a Dillard loss and a home victory over Cardinal Gibbons 18-12.
Cardinal Gibbons have lost their last two games, both which were district opponents. Two weeks ago, they lost several players to injury in a very physical road loss to American Heritage 70-19. The Chiefs were defeated last week in Hallandale. Ryan Giaratano will spread passes to Christian Blake and George Rushing while Michael Ferguson will take the handoffs from the backfield.
