The Miami Heat will retire the number 40 jersey of forward Udonis Haslem to the rafters tonight at Kaseya Center. He will be the sixth Miami player to have his uniform number retired. Haslem will join Alonzo Mourning(33), Tim Hardaway(10), Shaquille O' Neal(32), Chris Bosh(1) and Dwyane Wade(3). The team has also not issued number 23 because of the impact of Michael Jordan and number 6 for the league-wide uniform retirement of Bill Russell. Heat longtime trainer Ron Culp also has a banner.
Haslem played his entire 20-season NBA career with the same club. Only Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks have accomplished that. Haslem is the Heat all-time leader with 5,791 rebounds.
He captured all three NBA championship in Heat franchise history back in 2006, 2011, and 2012. Haslem also won seven Eastern Conference titles in 2006, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2020 and 2023.
