The Marlins return home on Tuesday to begin a six-game homestand against the Colorado Rockies followed by the Mets. The Mets go on the road and visit the Houston Astros before arriving in Miami.
New York(45-24) was able to load the bases during the first inning. Mark Canha walked and Brandon Nimmo crossed the plate.
It became 3-0 for the Mets in the bottom of the fourth. Eduardo Escobar drove in J.D. Davis on a sacrifice fly to left field. Jeff McNeil would later score on a wild pitch by Marlins pitcher Trevor Rogers.
In the fifth inning, New York expanded the gap to four runs. Pete Alonso powered a sacrifice fly to left field and Nimmo reached home.
Miami(29-36) surrendered two more runs in the eighth inning and trailed 6-0. Escobar singled up the middle for Davis and Luis Guillorme to score.
