The Philadelphia Phillies have fired manager Joe Girardi. He has been at that post for the last three seasons. Girardi had a 132-141 record with the Phillies and finished second in the National League East Division last season.
Girardi first managed in the majors with the Florida Marlins in 2006. He was there for just one season with a 78-84 record and was named the National League Manager of the Year.
He joined the New York Yankees as their manager in 2008. Girardi led them to the 2009 World Series title in 2009 and the club has not won a championship since then. Girardi was let go after the Yankees were eliminated in the 2017 American League Championship Series to the Houston Astros.
