The New York Mets picked up a 3-2 victory over the Miami Marlins on Saturday at Citi Field. The Marlins have lost five of their last six games. It was the second contest of a four-game wraparound weekend series between both teams.
New York(44-23) took a1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Jeff McNeil singled into right field for Mark Canha to cross the plate.
It became 3-0 for the Mets in the third inning. Francisco Lindor smashed a two-run homer to left-center field on a 2-2 pitch for his 11th home run of the season. Starling Marte scored in front of him on the play. It was the second straight game that Lindor homered against the Marlins.
Miami(28-35) made it 3-1 in the top of the seventh. Avisail Garcia knocked in Jazz Chisholm Jr. on a double to right-center field with two outs.
The Marlins added one run in the ninth inning and trailed 3-2. Garrett Cooper lifted a single into center field and Jon Berti scored.
