Broward County high school football players had early national signing day on Wednesday. The date for signing national letters of intent was moved up from February 7 to December 20.
St. Thomas Aquinas made a big splash as 12 players made their decisions. Defensive back Asante Samuel Jr. selected Florida State. Wide receiver Elijah Moore signed with Mississippi while defensive back Al Blades Jr. kept the family traditional and went with Miami. Defensive back Trenell Troutman heads to Louisville and linebacker Rocky Shelton moves to Duke. Other offensive standouts have wide receiver Tavares Kelly to Virginia and wide receiver Cole Caterbone to Army. Offensive linemen Jason Swann is off to Tulane and Tyler Steen to Vanderbilt while defensive lineman Dejmi Dumervil Jean decided on Louisville. Linebackers Coleman Crozier and Grayson Crozier both selected Navy.
FHSAA Class 3A state champion Chaminade-Madonna had numerous people decide. Running back Shaun Shivers signed with Auburn while wide receiver Xavier Williams agreed with Alabama. Kentucky got wide receiver Akeem Hayes, wide receiver Marvin Alexander and lineman Davoan Hawkins from the school. Wide receiver Logan Giordano chose Eastern Michigan and offensive lineman Sebastian Sainterling went with South Florida. Others included defensive lineman Corey Prince(Wofford), defensive back Justinn Richardson(Old Dominion) and linebacker Carlton Williams(Valdosta State).
Deerfield Beach have a share of players moving to the next level. Linebacker Rosendo Louis announced South Florida while running back Jakari Norwood picked Illinois and so did tight end Daniel Barker. Defensive back Miguel Edwards went with Oklahoma and Ashtan Pierre with Kentucky. Georgia State got wide receiver Cornelius McCoy and offensive lineman Despelado Alexandre. The FHSAA Class 5A state champion American Heritage only had linebacker Calvin Hart sign with North Carolina State.
Blanche Ely had quarterback Yanez Rogers go to Cincinnati, defensive back Jamari Brown to Kentucky, defensive back James Harris to Bowling Green and linebacker Carlton Cleophat to Central Michigan. Bethune Cookman got wide receiver Darryl Powell and defensive lineman Desmond Pete.
Two Dillard players move on to Kentucky with wide receiver Bryce Oliver and defensive back Stanley Gardner while their teammate running back Keyondre White goes to Akron. Cardinal Gibbons has wide receiver Carlos Sandy and defensive back Ron Hardge enter Illinois, defensive back Marquise Williams go to Pittsburgh and defensive back Maxwell Worship to Vanderbilt.
Miramar wide receiver Terrence Horne goes to South Florida and North Broward Prep wide receiver Kevin Austin heads to Notre Dame. Other top Broward County players includes Western defensive back Teshaun Smith(North Carolina State), Western wide receiver Jordan Smith(Temple), Nova running back Shaun Peterson(FIU), Stranahan quarterback Maurquel Dillard(FIU), Hallandale defensive back Michael Nesmith(Massachusetts), Miramar quarterback Steve Williams(Central Connecticut) and Miramar defensive lineman Hansky Palliant(Appalachian State).
