The Miami Marlins were stopped by the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1 at Marlins Park on Wednesday night. The Fish have lost five of their last eight games while the Diamondbacks have won six of their last seven contests.
Airzona(46-34) picked up the first run of the game during the fifth inning. Deven Marrero knocked in Ketel Marte with a base hit into center field.
Miami (32-49) surrendered another run in the top of the eighth. Daniel Descalso came up to pinch-hit and smacked a solo home run to right field on a 2-0 pitch.
The Marlins attempted a comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning. Starlin Castro ripped a lead-off solo homer to left-center field on a 2-1 count. The Fish left the tying run on second base to end the contest.
