The Miami Marlins were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3 on Tuesday night at Marlins Park. The Diamondbacks remain on top of the National League West division. The Marlins have won five of their last 10 games.
Arizona(45-34) jumped out to a two-run lead in the third inning. Jake Lamb doubled to left field which scored Jon Jay. David Peralta followed with a double to deep left to score Lamb.
Miami(32-48) cut the margin in the fourth. Bryan Holaday grounded out to short as J.T. Riddle scored.
The D-Backs answered back in the next inning. John Ryan Murphy connected with a two-run double into left field that scored Lamb and Peralta for a 4-1 lead.
The Marlins tried to come back in the bottom of the frame. Starlin Castro bashed a solo home run to left field on a 3-2 pitch.
In the seventh inning, the Diamondbacks got an insurance run for a three-run gap. Murphy knocked in Paul Goldschmidt on a sacrifice fly to right.
The Fish gained one more run in the bottom of the seventh. Brian Anderson scored on a fielding error by Ketel Marte during a Riddle at-bat.
