The Chicago Blackhawks blanked the Florida Panthers 3-0 at United Center on Thursday night. Florida(20-9-4) was shut out for the second time during the 2020-21 campaign. The Panthers have lost three straight games and four of their last five contests. Kevin Lankinen picked up his second career shutout with the victory.
In the second period, Chicago(16-13-5) got a 1-0 lead on the power play at the 1:05 mark.
Brandon Hagel took wrist shot from left wing that was saved by Sergei Bobrovsky. Carl Soderberg poked at the puck several times from blue paint and then Patrick Kane swept it into the cage for his 13th goal of the season.
It become 2-0 for the Blackhawks at 3:34. Kane sent a diagonal pass from the neutral zone to the top left circle. Alex DeBrincat snapped a shot from the left circle that Bobrovsky stopped. Pius Suter guided the puck into an open net from the top of the crease for his 10th goal this year.
The Hawks added an empty-net goal with 1:24 left in the third period for a three-goal margin. Hagel flicked a shot from his own zone for his fourth tally this season.
