Former St. Thomas Aquinas defensive lineman Geno Atkins has been released by the Cincinnati Bengals. Atkins has been with the Bengals for his entire 11-year NFL career.
He was selected by that club during the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Atkins made the Pro Bowl on eight different occasions. He was able to make 75.5 sacks and 384 total tackles in 161 games with Cincinnati.
Atkins was with the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders and helped them reach the FHSAA Class 5A state championship game against Lakeland twice in 2004 and 2005. He moved on to play college football with the University of Georgia for four years.
