The Miami Dolphins handled the New York Jets 34-10 on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The Dolphins have won four straight contests and five of their last seven games. The Jets were eliminated from postseason contention.
Miami(6-7) scored three touchdowns and had a 21-0 lead in the first quarter. Tua Tagovailoa tossed a three-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Waddle on the left side of the end zone at the 12:46 mark. De'Von Achane rushed the ball around the left end for a 13-yard touchdown at 8:48. Jaylen Wright plunged in from two yards out with 3:39 to go in the quarter.
New York(3-10) finally answered back with 20 seconds left in the first. Isaiah Williams returned a punt 78 yards for a score to make it 21-7. Riley Patterson booted a 43-yard field goal with 1:56 remaining in the second quarter for a 24-7 lead.
The Jets closed it to 24-10 when Nick Folk kicked a 31-yard field goal at the 12:13 mark of the fourth quarter. The Fins extended their lead to 31-10 with 6:18 left in the fourth quarter. Ollie Gordon II rushed up the middle from seven yards out. Patterson added a 53-yard field goal with 2:24 to go for a 24-point margin.
