Orestes Destrade Out As Rays Analyst

Former Florida Marlins first baseman Orestes Destrade will not return as the Tampa Bay Rays television studio analyst at Bally Sports Sun. He held that position since the 2012 season.
Destrade started in the first game in Marlins franchise history on April 5, 1993. He ended up playing in 153 games during the 1993 season. Destrade participated in 39 games the following season and was released by the club in June 1994.
He entered into the broadcasting field as a business partner of Tony Calatayud. Together they launched a sports talk radio format at WAFN-AM named 1700 The Fan in September 1999. The radio station flipped from a sports format in December 2000. Destrade later was an ESPN baseball game analyst and co-hosted a morning baseball Show on XM Radio during the 2000s.
