Several South Florida professional sports teams shocked the sports world with stunning postseason series wins over the last five days. The eighth-seeded Florida Panthers stunned the first-seeded Boston Bruins in Game 7 of their first-round series last night. The eighth-seeded Miami Heat accomplished the same thing against the first-seeded Milwaukee Bucks back on Wednesday night in Game 5 of their first-round series. The Bruins and the Bucks entered the postseason with the best regular season records in their leagues.
It was the first time in North American pro sports history that one city or one metropolitan area had multiple eighth-seed teams upset the top-seeded teams in the same year. The Heat began their second-round series versus the New York Knicks on Sunday. The Panthers will visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night in their second-round series.
