The best-of-seven series is now tied at 1-1. Game 3 will be held at Kaseya Center in Miami on Saturday afternoon.
The Heat were without Jimmy Butler in their lineup for Game 2. He was the Heat's leading scorer in Game 1 of the series with 25 points.
Neither team led by more than six points during the opening frame. New York had a 31-29 edge at the end of the first quarter. R.J. Barrett had 16 of the first 23 points for the Knickerbockers to begin the game. Miami kept it close and were ahead 54-51 at halftime.
The Heat held a 77-76 advantage at the end of the third quarter. Miami was up 93-87 with 7:06 remaining in the fourth. New York went on a 21-7 run to lead 108-100 with 31.1 seconds left.
Caleb Martin had a team-high 22 points and eight rebounds for the Heat. Gabe Vincent added 21 points and Max Strus dropped in 17 points. Bam Adebayo contributed 15 points and eight rebounds.
Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with a game-high 30 points. Julius Randle chalked up 25 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Josh Hart was short of a triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. Barrett had a great start to the contest and finished with 24 points.
