Marlins Edge Reds

     The Miami Marlins got by the Cincinnati Reds 2-1 on Friday night at Great American Ball Park. The Fish have won eight of their last 11 games on the road since the All-Star Game break. The Redlegs snapped a three-game winning streak.
     Mike Leake give up the Marlins first run in the game during the sixth inning. Casey McGehee doubled to left field with one out, Garrett Jones walked and Marcell Ozuna was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a sacrifice fly to center which scored McGehee.
     In the seventh inning, Giancarlo Stanton homered off Leake to left field on a 1-1 pitch for his 28th home run of the season to give Miami(56-59) a 2-0 lead.
     Cincinnati(59-57) broke up the shutout against Marlins relief pitcher Steve Cishek in the bottom of the ninth. Todd Frazier led off with a double to deep left field and crossed the plate on a double to left by Devin Mesaraco. The Reds had runners on first and third with two out when Zack Cozart struck out swinging to end the game.
     Nathan Eovaldi pitched eight scoreless innings for the victory as he allowed five hits and struck out eight. He improved his record to 6-6 this year while Cishek compiled his 28th save. Leake dropped to 9-10 as he gave up two runs on five hits in seven innings.
