Katie Engleson Theory

The Florida Panthers have made a tremendous run during the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the past six weeks. They reached the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in 1996.
One possible significant factor might be called the Katie Engleson Theory. She has been associated with teams through a portion of her life where they went beyond the first two rounds of a playoff tournament. Teams have either won championships, finished in the championship round or reached the tournament semifinals.
Engleson, a Parkland native, joined the Florida Panthers telecasts on Bally Sports Florida as a rinkside reporter back in September 2022 for her first season at that post. Her studying and researching of the team figured in her winning the Light The Lamp pregame show contest among the Panthers broadcasters by the largest margin of victory in the five seasons of the segment.
She was a baton twirler at high school football games while attending St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale. The Raiders football team had great success in her four years associated with the team. St. Thomas Aquinas won FHSAA Class 5A state championships and national high school football championships in 2008 and 2010. They reached the FHSAA Class 5A state semifinals and fell to Manatee on the road in 2009. STA got past the first two rounds of the FHSAA Class 7A state playoffs and lost in the third round at Dwyer in 2011.
Engleson moved on and went to college at the University of Alabama. She also was a baton twirler and appeared at Alabama football games for four years. The Crimson Tide won the BCS National Championship in 2012 and the CFP National Championship in 2015. Alabama was defeated in the Sugar Bowl in 2013 and 2014, the second being a CFP national semifinal game to Ohio State.
Away from athletics and school, Engleson put in her hard work, dedication and talent toward other activities and was a participant in several beauty pageants. She was named the winner of the 2011 South Florida's Outstanding Teen, the 2012 Miss Daytona Beach and the 2013 Miss Fort Lauderdale beauty pageants. That resulted in her being a contestant for Miss Florida in 2012 and 2013.
The Florida Panthers begin the Stanley Cup Final in Las Vegas against the Vegas Golden Knights with Game 1 on Saturday night. Bally Sports Florida will broadcast a postgame show. Engleson and Jessica Blaylock will report from FLA Live Arena for Panthers fan reactions. Florida Panthers television play-by-play announcer Steve Goldstein and television game analyst Randy Moller will host the program from the Bally Sports Florida studios in Fort Lauderdale.
