Rich Waltz has been let go as the Miami Marlins television play-by-play announcer on Fox Sports Florida. He was the fifth person to be the Marlins television voice in team history after Jay Randolph, Joe Angel, Dave O'Brien, and Len Kasper. His longtime television partner and Marlins game analyst Tommy Hutton was released after the 2015 season.
Waltz joined the Florida Marlins prior to the 2005 season. He replaced Len Kasper who moved to Chicago and became the Chicago Cubs television play-by-play announcer on WGN-TV and Comcast Sportsnet Chicago. Waltz will continue as a college football and college basketball play-by-play announcer for Fox Sports.
Jeff Conine will not return for Marlins television broadcasts in 2018. He became a television studio analyst in 2009. Conine was part of a group of people who replaced Hutton as the Marlins game analyst in 2016. Preston Wilson was also let go from Fox Sports Florida. He joined that organization as a studio game analyst in 2012. Wilson added duties as a game analyst alongside Waltz in 2016.
Fox Sports Florida has retained game analyst Todd Hollansworth who worked his first season with the Marlins in 2017. Studio hosts and sideline reporters Craig Minervini and Jessica Blaylock will return to the television broadcasts in 2018. Minervini has held his position since 2002 while Blaylock has been there since 2015.
