Marlins Drop Game To Cardinals

     The Miami Marlins were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals 7-1 at Marlins Park on Wednesday night. The Fish have lost eight of their last nine contests.
     St. Louis(60-55) moved out in front during the top of the first. Yadier Molina blasted a solo home run to left field on a 0-1 pitch for his 15th homer of the year.
     In the second inning, Miami(47-69) tied it up at 1-1. Miguel Rojas lined a base hit to shallow left-center field which brought home Starlin Castro.
     The Cardinals regained the lead in the six inning. Matt Carpenter nailed a solo homer to right field on a 3-1 count. Carpenter hit a home run against the Fish for the second straight game and collected his 31st homer of the season. Three batters later, former Marlin Marcell Ozuna sliced a double near the left-field corner for Jose Martinez to score.
     The Redbirds piled on the runs in the final two innings. Paul DeJong doubled to deep left field in the eighth inning which scored pinch-runner Harrison Bader and Ozuna.
     The Cards added on two more runs in the top of the ninth to make it 7-1. Molina knocked in Kolten Wong along with Carpenter with a double into right field.
