The Miami Marlins have given manager Don Mattingly a contract extension. The new deal will be for two more years. His contract with the club was to expire at the end of the 2019 season.
Mattingly has managed the Marlins for the past four seasons with a 272-364 record. He has the franchise record with 636 games managed. Mattingly previously was the manager with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2011 until 2015 and won three consecutive National League West Division titles.
He played with the New York Yankees as a first baseman from 1982 to 1995. Mattingly helped the team to the postseason in 1995 following a 14-year drought.
