American Hockey League Cancels Season

The American Hockey League has cancelled the rest of the 2019-20 regular season and the upcoming playoffs. The Calder Cup will not be presented to the league champion this year. It has been awarded every season since 1937.
The Florida Panthers AHL affiliation with the Springfield Thunderbirds will also end. No word on what club will be their affiliate next season, however it is expected to be Charlotte. The Panthers were in Springfield since the 2016-17 season.
The St. Louis Blues signed a deal in early March to take over in Springfield after their AHL affiliate club in San Antonio was bought by the Vegas Golden Knights and being moved to Henderson, Nevada.
