Nationals Shut Out Marlins

The Washington Nationals took down the Miami Marlins 4-0 in the second game of a three-game set on Saturday at Nationals Park. The Marlins have lost 10 of their last 12 contests. The Nats will go for the three-game sweep tomorrow.
In the first inning, the Nationals had a 1-0 lead. Joey Meneses hit a sacrifice fly into center field and Lane Thomas crossed the plate.
Washington(34-36) expanded it to 2-0 in the bottom of the third. Thomas blasted a solo home run to right-center field on a 1-1 pitch for his sixth homer of the season.
Miami(23-47) surrendered two more runs in the eighth inning and were down 4-0. Meneses cracked a two-run homer on a 1-2 count to left field with C.J. Abrams aboard. It turned out to be his third home run of the year.
