Habs Come Back On Panthers

The Florida Panthers blew a late lead and fell to the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in overtime at Bell Centre on Tuesday night. The Panthers started a four-game road swing. Both teams faced each other in Sunrise two days ago.
Montreal(35-30-9) sprinted out to a 1-0 advantage at the 4:43 mark of the first period. Josh Anderson redirected a shot from the low slot past Vitek Vanecek for his 14th goal of the year.
Florida(44-26-4) tied it up 1-1 with 9:23 remaining in the first. Anton Lundell kicked the puck back on a left-circle faceoff. Niko Mikkola took a wrist shot from the left wing by Sam Montembeault for his sixth goal in 2024-25.
In the second period, the Cats took a 2-1 lead on the power play with 1:13 to go. Mackie Samoskevich snapped a shot from the top left circle for his 14th goal this season.
The Habs evened it up 2-2 with nine seconds left in the third period. Lane Hutson fired a shot from the left point. Nick Suzuki steered in a backhand shot from the right side of the crease.
The Canadiens won it 3-2 just 29 seconds into overtime. Suzuki skated through the right circle, behind the cage and scored on a wraparound forehand shot for his second tally of the game and 25th goal of the season.
