Marlins Ice Down Blue Jays

     The reigning American League champions the Toronto Blue Jays lost to the Miami Marlins 8-2 at Rogers Centre on Monday night. The Marlins started a long nine-game road trip and extended their winning streak to four games. 
     Miami(26-29) broke out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Otto Lopez hit a sacrifice fly to the warning track in left field and Xavier Edwards scored. 
     The Marlins made it 2-0 in the top of the fifth. Owen Caissie doubled into the right-center field gap for Javier Sanoja to reach home. 
     Toronto(25-29) closed it to 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth. Yohendrick Pinango singled up the middle for Lenyn Sosa to score. 
     The Fish added three runs in the top of the sixth and they led 5-1. Kyle Stowers knocked in Liam Hicks with a double into shallow left field. Two batters later, Sanoja doubled to deep left field for Stowers and Jakob Marsee to cross the plate. 
     The Blue Jays chalked up one run in the bottom of the sixth and trailed 5-2. Ernie Clement lifted a solo home run to left field on a 2-1 pitch for his fourth homer of the season. 
     In the eighth inning, Miami compiled three more runs for an 8-2 lead. Stowers drove in Hicks on a double down the left-field line. Marsee followed with a ground out to third which brought in Lopez. Two batters later, Caissie got a base hit through the right side and Sanoja raced home.
