Former University of Miami Hurricanes running back Clinton Portis was given a jail sentence on Thursday. He was sentenced to six months in jail followed by six months of home confinement. Portis was involved in a scheme to defraud a National Football League health care program.
Portis played for the Miami Hurricanes from 1999 to 2001 and captured the Canes last national championship during 2001. He was with the Denver Broncos and the Washington Football Team in his nine-year NFL career. Portis had a total of 9,923 rushing yards and 80 overall touchdowns.
