Bret Hedican Exits Broadcasting

Former Florida Panthers defenseman Bret Hedican has left the television broadcasting field. He has been named the player development analyst of the San Diego Gulls. They are the American Hockey League affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks.
He had held roles as the television game analyst, television rinkside reporter, radio game analyst and television studio game analyst for the San Jose Sharks over the last 15 NHL seasons. Hedican was a radio game analyst at Westwood One alongside play-by-play announcer Steve Goldstein announcing ice hockey at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Hedican played 202 games with the Florida Panthers from 1998-99 to 2001-02 and chalked up 65 points. He was acquired along with Pavel Bure in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks for Ed Jovanovski and Kevin Weeks in an eight-player deal on January 17, 1999.
He was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in January 2002. Hedican captured two Eastern Conference titles in 2002 and 2006 along with a Stanley Cup championship in 2006.
