Canada Escapes Czechia

Team Canada survived Team Czechia 4-3 in overtime during the quarterfinal round of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan on Wednesday. The Canadians moved on to the semifinals and will face Team Finland on Friday.
Team Czechia tied it up 1-1 at 8:34 of the first period. Former Florida Panthers defenseman Radko Gudas intercepted a pass at the red line and carried it into the Canadians zone. He made a cross-ice pass from the top right circle which led to a goal by Lukas Sedlak in the crease area.
Team Canada got the win at the 1:22 mark in overtime. Vegas Golden Knights right wing Mitch Marner skated through the middle of the ice by three Czechia defenders and backhanded a shot from the inner left circle.
