The Miami Marlins have signed infielder Neil Walker to a one-year contract. He spent last season with the New York Yankees where they made the American League playoffs as a wild card.
Walker began his major league career with his hometown team the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2009. He helped the club end their 21-year playoff drought in 2013. They made and hosted the National League Wild Card game for three consecutive seasons.
He joined the defending National League champion New York Mets in 2016. Walker was traded during the 2017 season to the Milwaukee Brewers.
