The Athletic Miami released Miami Dolphins beat reporter Chris Perkins. He was one of several local writers that were eliminated by the parent company The Athletic. Perkins was the first local South Florida writer to join The Athletic Miami in August 2018.
Perkins was the Miami Heat beat writer for the Palm Beach Post until the middle of the 2009-10 season when the position was completely eliminated by the newspaper. He also contributed as a Miami Dolphins writer with them.
He was employed by NBA.com as a basketball writer and then by Fox Sports Florida.com as a Miami Heat reporter. Perkins landed at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel as a sports columnist and Miami Dolphins beat reporter.
Perkins, who was once a Texas Rangers beat writer for the Dallas Morning News prior to arriving in South Florida, has also announced on the radio airwaves. He was a morning co-host on 640 Sports WMEN-AM alongside Armando Salguero and Larry Milian from August 2011 until August 2012. Perkins also was an afternoon co-host with Ethan J. Skolnick and later Curtis Stevenson on Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM from late 2016 to August 2019.
