Panthers goalie Spencer Knight had 34 saves and got his second shutout of the season. It turned out to be his fifth career NHL shutout.
Neither team was able to score in the opening frame, Florida(27-17-3) made it 1-0 on a tally by Jesper Boqvist on a snap shot from the low left circle by John Gibson for his 11th goal of the campaign with 8:38 to go the second period.
It became 2-0 for the Cats at the 4:43 mark of the third period. Anton Lundell stole the puck at the center-ice circle and carried it into the Ducks zone on a 2-on-1 breakaway. He released a wrist shot from the high slot for his 11th goal of the season.
Anaheim(18-22-6) pulled their goalie for an extra skater with 2:15 remaining in the third. Knight picked up an assist when Gustav Forsling shot the puck from his own left defensive circle into an empty net with 6.3 seconds left for his seventh tally this year.
