United States Topples Germany

     Team USA knocked off Team Germany 5-1 on Sunday at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. The Americans finished first in Group C with a 3-0-0 record and will get a bye to play in the quarterfinal round. 

     The United States are the second seed for the upcoming men's hockey bracket. Team Canada is the first seed due to the goal differential in the group round.

     Team USA converted on the power play at 3:25 mark of the second period for a 2-0 advantage. Florida Panthers right wing Matthew Tkachuk chalked up a secondary assist on a tally from Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews. 

     The Americans increased their lead to 3-0 with 2:25 remaining in the second when Minnesota Wild defenseman Brock Faber scored. Matthew Tkachuk got the primary assist on the play while his brother Ottawa Senators center Brady Tkachuk.
