The Houston Rockets slipped by the Miami Heat 123-122 at Toyota Center on Saturday night. The Heat made the visit to Houston for a one-game road trip and will they host the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.
Houston(43-27) held a 32-29 advantage at the conclusion of the first quarter. The Rockets had a 64-63 lead at halftime.
Miami(38-33) stayed in striking distance early in the second half. The Heat scored eight straight points to end of the third quarter and led 96-87.
The Rockets went on a 22-9 run to begin the fourth quarter for a 109-105 lead with 5:28 remaining. Kevin Durant passed Michael Jordan with his 32,294th point for the fifth-most career points by a player in NBA history on a three-point shot with 3:35 left in the fourth to make it 117-109. Miami came back with a 13-4 spurt down the stretch. Amen Thompson tipped in a shot with no time remaining in the final quarter.
The Heat were led by Bam Adebayo with 32 points and 21 rebounds for a double-double. Tyler Herro stepped up with 25 points while Pelle Larsson added 19 points.
Durant helped the Rockets with team-high 27 points. Thompson compiled a double-double with 24 points and 18 rebounds. Reed Sheppard was able to contribute 23 points and 14 assists on his way to a double-double.
