FHSAA Football Point Standings Week 10

     The FHSAA football playoff point standings were released after week 10 action which included the end of district play. All district champions were decided for top four seedings in Class 8A, 7A, 6A and 5A with one exception.
     Class 8A in Region 3 stayed the same among the top three seeds. They included #1 Atlantic(42.44), #2 Deerfield Beach(42.30) and #3 Palm Beach Central(40.56). There was a three-way tie in District 12 between Plantation(38.56), Miramar(38.11) and Western(38.00). The school that has the highest point mark following week 11 will become the district champion and fourth seed. Wellington(38.89), Piper(38.00), Park Vista(36.89) and Seminole Ridge(35.89) battle it out for the final four playoff spots.
     Region 4 had four outright district champions from Dade County and a lot of movement over the past week. Columbus(42.10), Miami Southridge(41.11), Belen Jesuit(38.00) and Hialeah(37.67) all finished on top of their districts. The other five schools that consist of Miami Palmetto(40.22), South Dade(39.78), North Miami(35.56), Coral Gables(35.00) and Homestead(34.67) look to get the final four playoff spots.
     The top two seeds in Class 7A for Region 4 seemed to be a foregone conclusion for several weeks with #1 St. Thomas Aquinas(43.22) taking District 14 and #2 Dwyer(43.10) getting District 13. McArthur(39.78) and #4 Doral Academy(38.70) chalked up the other district crowns. It is a scramble for the last four playoff spots with #5 Fort Lauderdale(38.67), #6 Miami Springs(38.00), #7 Mater Academy(37.67), #7 South Miami(37.67), #9 Palm Beach Lakes(37.44), #10 Forest Hill(36.89), #11 West Broward(36.67) and #12 Olympic Heights(35.00).
     Class 6A in Region 4 saw everything decided in District 16 as Carol City(40.89) wrapped it up while Dillard(36.67) took District 15. Miami Central(40.40) and Miami Northwestern(37.22) are likely to get a top eight playoff seed while #10 Norland(35.11) is on the border.
     Region 4 in Class 5A saw Cardinal Gibbons(41.11) clinch District 16. American Heritage(42.22) looks like they will be the top at-large seed. #9 Hallandale(36.33) and #11 Coconut Creek(35.56) may be out of reach.
     Class 4A in Region 4 had no changes with #1 University School(41.44), #2 Glades Central(39.56), #3 Monsignor Pace(38.56), #4 Booker T. Washington(38.20), #5 Gulliver Prep(35.89), #6 Key West(35.44), #7 Coral Springs Charter(34.75) and #8 Pine Crest(34.56).
     Region 4 in Class 3A has defending champion #1 Chaminade-Madonna(42.67), #2 Benjamin(40.10), #3 American Heritage(39.78), #4 Westminster Christian(38.75), #5 Palmer Trinity(37.56), #6 St. Andrew's(35.00), #7 Everglades Prep(34.89) and #8 Calvary Christian(34.00) going for the six playoff spots. Region 2 has two schools contending with Kings Academy(39.60) leaping to first and Cardinal Newman(35.78) remaining in fourth.
     Pahokee(38.44) dropped to the second seed in Class 1A of Region 4. Class 2A of Region 4 contains #2 Miami Christian(38.57), #4 Glades Day(37.33) and #5 Champagnat Catholic(36.88).
