The slate of the 2021 FHSAA football state championship games has been set. Class 3A down to Class 1A will be played next week at Gene Cox Stadium in Tallahassee. The five state title games from Class 8A to Class 4A will occur in two weeks at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
The Class 2A contest will happen on Thursday night between two-time defending champion Champagnat Catholic and Trinity Christian Academy. It will be followed by the Class 3A state title game between Chaminade-Madonna and Berkeley Prep on Friday night. Madison County and Hawthorne will face each other for the Class 1A crown on Saturday night.
South Florida will be the host of FHSAA state championship games for the first time since 2006. The last time it was held locally was at the venue now known as Hard Rock Stadium. Local high schools from South Florida will be involved in the first three state title games.
Defending state champion Cardinal Gibbons opens it up against Cocoa for the Class 4A title on December 16 at 7PM. The Class 5A state title contest has two-time defending Class 6A champion Miami Central challenging Merritt Island on December 17 at 1PM. The two-time defending Class 7A state champion St. Thomas Aquinas goes up against Tampa Bay Tech on December 17 at 7PM.
The last two state championship games will involve high schools from out of the South Florida area on December 18. Venice and Apopka clash for the Class 8A state title at 1PM while Jesuit and Pine Forest follow for the Class 6A crown at 7PM.
