Miami Central(11-2) have won the last two Class 6A state titles and were moved down to the lower classification during the offseason. The Rockets will be attempting to capture their 8th state championship in school history. They have won 11 games since losing their first two contests this year and have outscored their opponents 536-170 this season. The Rockets routed North Miami Beach 49-6 in a regional quarterfinal, eliminated defending state champion American Heritage 41-28 in a regional semifinal, knocked off Killian 39-13 in a regional final and bounced Baker County 54-21 in a state semifinal.
The Rockets are strong in the quarterback position with Keyone Jenkins starting and Dylan Tulloch backing him up. Running backs Ean Pope, Ghana Oboh and Jonathan Harris will get their rushing opportunities. Wide receivers Zaylan Reese, Lamar Seymore, Joshua Trader, Corey Washington and Cataurus Hicks are expected to make catches down the field from Jenkins.
Merritt Island(13-1) have outscored their opponents 376-93 this season. The Mustangs have compiled five shutouts this year and been victorious in their last nine games. They dominated Leesburg 50-0 in the regional quarterfinal, held off Rockledge 20-6 in the regional semifinal, shut out Satellite 20-0 in the regional final and slipped by Sebring 12-10 in the state semifinal.
The Mustangs offense is led by quarterback Brady Denaburg. Running backs Dominic Sheilds and Elijah Edwards will split the number of carries from the backfield. Wide receivers Dallas Donahue, Bridger Koby, Ryder Varis, C.J. Bragg and Abel Wellborn look to make pass receptions from Denaburg.
