Dodgers Dispose Marlins

The Los Angeles Dodgers busted the Miami Marlins 8-4 at loanDepot park on Wednesday night. The Marlins have fallen in four of their past five games. The Dodgers reached the 90-win mark for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons.
Los Angeles(90-62) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Will Smith hammered a solo home run off the left-field foul pole on a 2-0 pitch for his 19th homer of the 2024 campaign.
The Dodgers piled on five more runs in the top of the fourth and led 6-0. Tommy Edman sliced a two-run homer to right field on a 0-1 count with Freddie Freeman aboard. It was Edman's sixth home run with his new team. Three batters later, Kiki Hernandez smacked a three-run home run on the first pitch to left-center field for his 10th homer of the year. Smith and Andy Pages scored in front of him on the play.
Miami(56-96) collected three runs in the bottom of the seventh and trailed 6-3. Otto Lopez singled through the right side to score Jonah Bride and Kyle Stowers. Two batters later, Lopez scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by Nick Fortes.
In the eighth inning, Los Angeles expanded it to a five-run margin with two more runs. Chris Taylor knocked in Freeman and Smith on a base hit into left field.
The Marlins pushed in one run in the bottom of the ninth and they were down 8-4. Fortes drove in Sanchez with a sacrifice fly to right field.
