Spoelstra Signs Contract Extension
Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has signed a contract extension with the team on Friday. The length and amount of the contract was not released by the organization. He has been the Heat head coach for the past three seasons. Spoelstra led the team to an Eastern Conference championship and an NBA Finals appearance in 2010-11 with Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. The Heat lost to the Dallas Mavericks 4-2 in the finals. Spoelstra joined Miami in 1995 as a video coordinator and was promoted to assistant coach in 1997. He was an assistant under Pat Riley when the Miami Heat won the NBA world championship in 2005-06 over Dallas.
