The Booker T. Washington Tornadoes have been declared the 2013 high school football national champions. They appeared as the top team in the national poll by six of seven recognized organizations. The Tornadoes were first in USA Today, Max Preps, Scout, National High School Football, Prep Nation and Student Sports. They were third in the High School Football America poll.
Booker T. Washington were undefeated with a 14-0 record and won the 2013 FHSAA Class 4A championship for their second straight title. The top highlight of their season was their victory over the Miami Central Rockets, who were ranked first in several national surveys at the time, during the second week of the regular season.
The Tornadoes join other South Florida high schools who have won a national championship in recent years. St. Thomas Aquinas captured it in 2008 and 2010 while Northwestern took it in 2007.
