The Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers played on Wednesday as the Heat won 101-95 at Staples Center. The Heat, who extended their winning streak to six games and are 8-2 on Christmas Day, have won 19 straight games against Western Conference opponents. The Lakers are now 0-5 against Miami on Christmas Day.
Los Angeles(13-16) put in their first four shots as they took a 12-7 lead three minutes in. The Lakers scored 11 straight points late in the period and were up 27-21 after one quarter. Miami(22-6) dropped in 12 consecutive points during the second quarter and led 48-39 with 2:36 left. They went into halftime with a 51-46 margin.
The Heat led throughout the third quarter as the Lakers were behind 76-74 entering the fourth. The game was tied 83-83 with 8:25 to go until Miami went on a 9-0 run. The Lakers would cut the gap down to four points 96-92 with 1:25, but they came no closer.
Chris Bosh had 23 points and 11 rebounds to complete a double-double for the Heat. Dwyane Wade contributed 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists while LeBron James, who improved to 7-1 on Christmas games, added 19 points along with eight rebounds. Ray Allen knocked down 12 points and Mario Chalmers got seven.
Nick Young came off the bench to score a team-high 20 points and Jodie Meeks dropped down 17 points. Pau Gasol nailed a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
