Panthers Edge Habs

The Florida Panthers began a four-game road trip through Canada as they got a 2-1 victory on Sunday night over the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre. The Panthers, now with a season-high three-game winning streak, have won five of their last six games.
Florida(12-17-5) compiled two goals during the second period to take the lead it would not relinquish. Jesse Winchester would put in his fifth goal this season at 4:44 with assists from Tomas Kopecky and Marcel Goc on the play. Nick Bjugstad added his sixth tally this year as he fired a shot from the right-circle dot off the glove of Peter Budaj and into the net. Tomas Fleischmann fed Bjugstad the pass from the right point and Scottie Upshall was credited with an assist.
Montreal(20-12-3) closed the gap early in third period as Alex Galchenyuk scored his tenth goal this season at 2:28. Brian Gionta and P.K. Subban both picked up assists on the play for the Habs.
