Marlins Blow Nine-Run Lead To Nationals

     The Miami Marlins blew a nine-run lead and lost to the Washington Nationals 14-12 at Nationals Park on Thursday night. It was the start of a four-game series between both clubs. It is the only time that the Marlins will play outside the state of Florida during a stretch of 29 games.
     Miami(36-53) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. They compiled six runs during the top of the second. It was capped by a Martin Prado home run off the left-field foul pole on a 0-1 pitch.
     The Marlins would make it a nine-run margin in the fourth inning. Justin Bour smashed a two-run homer to center field on a 1-2 count to make it 9-0.
     Washington(43-43) broke the shutout in the bottom of the fifth on a bases loaded walk by Adam Eaton. Park Vista grad Trea Turner grounded into a  fielder's choice to first which scored Daniel Murphy. Juan Soto followed with a two-run double to center to score Michael A. Taylor and Turner and closed it to 9-5.
     The Nats shockingly took the lead in the sixth inning. Bryce Harper scored on a Murphy sacrifice fly to left. Four batters later, Turner connected with a grand-slam homer to left field on a 1-2 pitch.
     The Nationals added four more runs during the seventh for a 14-9 lead. Turner got his eighth RBI of the contest as his two-run single scored Spencer Keiboom and Taylor.
     The Fish made it closer in the top of the eighth inning. Brian Anderson walloped a three-run homer to center field on a 0-1 count. Starlin Castro and Derek Dietrich both scored on the play.
