Chicago(65-65) scooted out to a 1-0 advantage in the top of the first. Seiya Suzuki powered a solo home run to center field on the first pitch for his 17th homer of the campaign.
In the third inning, the Cubs extended their lead to 3-0. Suzuki blasted a two-run homer to left-center field on a 3-1 count with Michael Busch aboard. It was Suzuki's second homer of the contest and 18th home run of the year.
Miami(46-83) was down 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth. Connor Norby smacked a solo homer on a 1-0 pitch to center field. Norby collected his first home run in a Marlins uniform.
The Cubbies added four more runs during the top of the fifth for a 7-1 lead. Pete Crow-Armstrong crushed a two-run homer to right field on a 0-0 pitch with Dansby Swanson on base. Crow-Armstong homered for the second straight game following an inside-the-ballpark home run yesterday. Three batters later, Busch had an infield hit to score Miguel Amaya and Ian Happ.
The Marlins got one run in the bottom of the frame and trailed 7-2. David Hensley lifted a solo home run to right-center field on 1-0 count for his first homer this year.
Chicago compiled three more runs in the seventh inning. They added two additional runs in the top of the eighth and two runs in the ninth for a commanding 14-2 lead.
