The Philadelphia Phillies downed the Miami Marlins 9-5 on Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park. The Marlins will visit the New York Mets on Friday.
Miami(45-76) started off ahead in the opening frame. Jonah Bride smashed a three-run homer, his fifth home run of the year, for a three-run margin.
The Phillies answered back with one run in the second and one run in the third. The Marlins expanded their lead to 5-2 during the top of the fourth.
Philadelpha(70-50) overcame the Fish with four runs in the bottom of the fourth for a 6-5 advantage. Kyle Schwaber connected with a grand-slam home run to left-center field on a 2-1 pitch for his 28th homer of the campaign. It was his seventh career grand-slam homer.
In the top of the seventh, the Phils added three more runs and led 9-5. It was capped by J.T. Realmuto with a two-run double into right field.
